Pittsburgh band Diamond Reo("Ain't That Peculiar") opened the

show, their first ever publicperformance. Aerosmith played

second - they arrived via helicopterduring Diamond Reo's set and landed

on the baseball field across the streefrom the bandshell.  When their

helicopter flew over the crowd thereceived more applause than

Diamond Reo did at any point duringtheir set.Brownsville Station was the

headliner.  I met Cub Koda fromBrownsville in 1980 and he

remembered playing this show –"Yeah, Aerosmith opened for us and

we blew them off the stage!" was hiscomment, not exactly how I remembered it.
