Comments:

The pnultimate Crespo/Dufay gig,

the Poughkeepsie crowd seems

particularly electrified this night and

the band responds in kind with a

great performance. Kramer's force

and power are well documented in

the recording, which captures the

 boom of his low end attack.  “I like it,

 I like it!” Tyler says before “Three Mile Smile” noting the crowd's energy. “Lord Of The Thighs” has a little slip as Dufay signals the return to the song's main theme after his solo and Tyler starts to sing on cue, but is forced to stop as Dufay continues on.

  “The one the only, Joey Kramer!” Tyler says, thinking “Lick And A Promise” is due up. Kramer does a little cymbal work as an intro, but it's to “No More Mo More.” After which, Tyler says “as I was saying, the one and only, Mr Joey Kramer!” as the drummer does start up  “Lick And A Promise.”

 Crespo adds some evocative guitar work during the final verses of “Dream On,” which segues nicely into an easy drum beat and “Sick As A Dog.”  “You are all too kind,” Tyler says after the encore break, acknowleding the loud crowd, “and we'll be back.” As the band gets into “Train Kept A Rollin” Tyler's vocals drop out, while the band keeps chugging along. This train stops for no one!  Crespo comports himself very well on the final solo.

Back at the Spectrum about 10

weeks after theprevious gig. Sounds

like someone handed Joe Perry the

wrong guitar heading onto stage

because he is way out of tune! He

tries to tune on the fly, but sounds

like he is given another guitar and

things improve. A weird start to a

show! The band cranks through its

classics at this point, an entertaining

show to these ears. Good quality for

a 1977 gig, straight from the taper.

Comments :

Road manager Kelly repeats the intro

he gave back in Peoria during the

summer of 1976:   “Say, what are you

fellows doing here, and a queer, no shit." 

It was probably lost on the Kyoto crowd as it us! Perry begins  the “Mama Kin” into in the wrong key, but quickly rights the ship. Tyler switches up the “Write Me A Letter” lyrics, subbing in “entice me” and “excite me” or the “write me” line. Roadie Kelly again seems to pipe up in the middle of “Rats In The Cellar.” Perry hits the wrong notes to start “Dream On” but the band carries on nevertheless. At the end of the songs the guitarists hold long notes as Kramer starts “Lord Of The Thighs.” Whitford has trouble finding the notes to start “Last Child,” a rare foul up for him. “Walk This Way” starts with a fast shuffle by Kramer, who then slows it down to start the song proper. Perry strums some cool notes into  “ Same Old Song And Dance” on this night. Perry also gives a great intro into “ Train Kept A-Rollin'” playing a bit of the “Stars Spangled Banner.” During his solo he gets the band into “Get The Lead Out” then  a brief “Adam's Apple” where Tyler joined him with maracas. The real treat comes when Perry shifts the band to “Moving Out,” which they jam on for a couple of minutes. The loud crowd claps to get the band back on stage for the encore. During the blues jam into “Toys In The Attic” Tyler takes on the role of auctioneer! Fabulous show in Kyoto recorded by Mr. Peach.

   Comments :

The first evidence of the

“Live! Bootleg” tour comes at Long

Island. Three months removed from its last dates, the band has refreshed its setlist, not satisfied to trot out the same set of songs. This show has a fast pace and the band goes from one song to the next and there are only a few words from Tyler to the crowd during the first five songs. A trio of “oldies” stars the set. “Come Together” has arrived in the setlist. What stands out is Kramer's rolling drum work throughout. “Back In The Saddle” thankfully  reappears, but the former show opener sounds out of place mid-set. Mark Radice's piano work sticks out during “Lord Of The Thighs” but has a way of slowing the song's vibe and cutting into the Whitford/Perry guitar work that makes the track so fascinating live. The band has a special guest for “Chip Away The Stone”:  Richie Supa, who wrote the song with Tyler. He joins on vocals and guitar for a rollicking version, his singing adding to the unique rendition. Perry does a whipsaw opening to “Draw The Line,” pushing wild notes through his guitar. Guitars seem be absent for the first vocal section of “Same Old Song And Dance” with Tyler and rhythm section making due. Perry gets some nice feedback to signal the beginning of “Milk Cow Blues,” which features a short drum interlude by Kramer. “Happy Trails” appears suddenly during  “Train Kept A Rollin'” with Tyler putting on a country twang, a fun moment for sure.

   Good soundboard recording from the

   end of the Draw The Line tour. 

   The recording is incomplete and the

   actual set list is very much up for

   debate.  However, this is the most

   complete of a recording from this

   date that I can find.  Great version

   of "All Of Your Love" and great

   performance overall.
